Here are some Notebook files I have created. So far i am VERY disappointed in their software. It is clunky to use, and fairly unstable once created. the problem is that for proprietary reasons (i suppose) they do everything in Flash which is very time consumoing to learn and then convert to their notebook software. We actually call them the "average board" in our departemnt. Anyway -- click away, and if you have sugggestions for improving any of them, or design any of your own please contact me at historybytes@yahoo.com PLEASE DO NOT SAVE CHANGES UNLESS YOU FIRST DOWNLOAD THE FILE. OTHERWISE YOU WILL CHANGE MY ORIGINAL ON THE SITE. THE BIGGER FILES TAKE A LONG TIME TO DOWNLOAD SO BE PATIENT!!!

On the first day of class I have the students in groups create a list of "9 Characteristics of Americans" . They write them on butcher paper, which are then posted on the front wall. Then I use the following notebook file to reveal Daniel Boorstein's list and we see how well they matched up to a well known American historian

9 characteristics notebook

Early Explorers -- very simplistic use of maps

Reasons for European Expansion

A 13 colonies introduction notebook

By this time they are ready to write their first DBQ

I have a similar notebook file for teaching the FRQ using the Cold War. It can easily be changed to any other tiime period.

An Articles of Confederation activity

Several Industrial Revolution attempts (again too simplistic, but that seems to be what the Average Board is good for: word matches, anagrams, timelines). The weird thing is that the students really like this stuff -- but i am unsure about how educational they are.

Several New Deal activities: 3-R's, and Alphabet Soup

this file was the BEST of what I created, but the program has major glitches. Schools of American Art

This is a file I recieved at a training session. Again, it mostly seems geared towards K-7. Content Creation

And of course quiz style games GAMES:

Jeapordy 2

Hollywood Squares
